I also would have two platforms open for utilizing more information. I have a relatively small account, just a little over 25k, and I'd like to limit commissions until I have a much larger account. I wouldn't mind Lightspeed but the commissions get you. That means that the thinkorswim platform suite is coming to Schwab.
I'd like to use the better platform that is out there. We're fully committed to providing a best-in-class trading experience, now and in the future. Although it doesn't really matter when going long with which platform you use. But I have used the StreetSmart Edge with RAM to spare, so I think it's the platform. Maybe it's slow because I am using a Mac?, and Schwab doesn't offer a downloadable program, only a server-based platform, or I need more RAM. The ordering window isn't that great, and just overall the program could be better. I sort of like StreetSmart Edge that Schwab has, but the execution speed could be faster, the platform could be better and faster with moving windows around. Recently I opened up a checking account connected to my brokerage account, the "high yield investor checking" Schwab calls it.
I have enough in my account with Schwab to not be held to the PDT rule, and I also have margin. Thinkorswim was the first piece of legacy TD Ameritrade technology that Schwab agreed to keep as it culls software in its merger. I've had a brokerage account with Charles Schwab for a little over 4 months now and been thinking about switching to either TD Ameritrade, Fidelity, or Lightspeed.
